How We Review
This page explains how we create the guides, comparisons and reviews on iCan - Learn a New Hobby.
Research, not lab testing
Our guides are research-based: we compile and compare publicly available information, including official websites and documentation, reputable publications and organizations, and patterns across independent expert and user reviews.
What we look at
- How beginner-friendly it is and how fast you’ll see progress
- What you actually need to start, and what you can skip
- Cost, from free options to worthwhile upgrades
- Safety and injury-prevention basics from reputable organizations
- The consensus of coaches, clubs and experienced hobbyists
Keeping guides up to date
Things change quickly. We revisit our guides periodically and update them when important details change. The “Updated” date at the top of each article shows when it was last revised.
Independence
Recommendations are never sold. Affiliate commissions, where they exist, do not influence what we recommend or in what order. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
